2 XXX's Set up

Question...The XXX is a SQL driver. You seem to be wanting SPL. Why not save some money and buy the SX model?
Unless he's competing in SPL, the SX peaking a bit louder isn't going to be a significant improvement for daily listening purposes. The XXX actually plays louder (on average) over the full freq spectrum the subs would play. So yea if you want a burp machine that just plays at the peak tuning freq, an SX would be a good choice. But if he wants a daily system that also has some SPL balls (and he's willing to pay the more $), the XXX is (imo) the better choice.

weece, your electrical system = poop. tell it to stop being a pussy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

and for person asking about XXX. Say goodbye to your hearing. lol

My point was,

2 XXX+amp = broke

2 sx (cheaper)+amp (more to spend on one if so desires)=not as broke //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

You save money. As far as the peaking of the SX. Honestly, I dont know if the SX is louder then the XXX and vise versa. I was trying to save him money. Hell if he wanted to get louder he could always buy some L7's or even the soloX. The L7s would probly be cheaper then the XXXs.

Yes I agree the SX's are cheaper. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif But he seems to want XXX's, and if he's willing to pay the extra for them, my point was there IS an improvement over SX's (maybe that's too obvious a point tho lol). If its just about saving money, hell he can buy funky pups. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i have 2 12L7's running a 1200 watt amp (600 watts each) and im wanting to get 2 xxx's with 1200 watts each to kick this systems ***, i hate my L7's, they are unmusical, and arent even as loud as my friend with 2 12" audiobahn running 2200watts, and audiobahn is supposed to be shit. im wanting to get away from kicker and get a nice **** loud sub that will be more musical than the **** L7's

anyone have an idea of how many db's it will hit with 2 xxx's 1200 watts to each sub in a yukon with the right box and right tuning for the truck.
Somewhere between 0db and 180db //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

There is absolutely no way to tell, not even an "educated" guess. There are far too many variables. I would hope you would be over 130db, but doubt you'd make it into the 160's. That's the best, most accurate answer that can be given.

Call me stupid. What IS/ARE the improvements? I bet there are a couple of them but I also think that there are some downsides that match your positives. Null point IMO.

Not getting too technical on the pros and cons

+=upside, -= downside, +/- null point

XXX

+ better sound quality (who cares he wants an SPL box)

+ uhhhh....uhhhh....?

- more expensive

SX

+/-good SQ (again who cares he wants an SPL box)

+cheaper

+same coil as the XXX

- uhhhh....uhhhh....

Someone smart and experienced with these subs help fill in the other parts. I'd love Mrray, SNova, and Njccbflo to tell me the UPside or improvements to having the XXX for SPL over the SX. I could be way off on everything that I am stating here, but I do not beleive that the XXX is better then the SX if the owner just wants to ad an SPL box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I already listed the improvements (more displacement for more output over the full range versus the SX peaking higher, better SQ). *shrug*

Whatever man, last thing Im gonna do is stand here and argue with you over some other guy should buy an SX or XXX. He stated he wants XXX's, you want him to buy SX's. You already know the differences between the two drivers, seems all you want me to do is agree with you. Sorry, I dont. Actuaally I dont know, if he just wants an SPL burp machine, yeah buy SX's. If he wants something to also sound good for daily use, I think the XXX is the better choice.

Lastly, power handling is pretty much irrelevant to SPL output when trying to compare (ie: they both have same coils... so?). I dont see how the SX having the same coil as the XXX is an advantage to the SX. But again, whatever, not gonna argue.

Later.

personally, i'd redo the L7's box, get them a lil more power and be done with it. (especially since ur comparing them to 'bahns which are getting more power) i think the xxx is overrated in almost all aspects. did it sound good? yeah, but so does my rl-p. does it get loud? yeah, it got loud. so does my rl-p..

as to the L7's not being musical...in what way? i'm running an 18" solo x off an orion 2500d at .5ohm...and it handles double kick drums like noones business. it'll reach so low u think it's an earthquake and then proceed to kick ur chest in with the kickdrum..

this cannot be said enough...ENCLOSURE IS 85% OF YOUR SYSTEM. if it's too big, too small, tuned too high, tuned too low....u will sound like fart and not be loud..

as to the xxx vs sx...i honestly have no clue.

but if ur dead set on xxx's...get them....they are really nice subs. but put them in the wrong enclosure and u'll be back here again asking what new system to get..if they are 12's=2-2.5ft^3 tuned to 34hz.....15's=2.5-3ft^3 tuned to 32 hz...

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/peace.gif.2db28b618ed8d1964ebbe2f5021d2c39.gif

You think the XXX is overrated in almost all aspects... like in what way? If you mean in its specs, I assure you it isn't. If you mean by reputation, well that's just your opinion versus theirs I guess. Quite frankly, the Rl-P gets its fair share of message board hype as well, I really dont see the relevance one way or the other.
