2 type r's or 1 type x

i had 2 type-x's and for grins i bought 2 type-r's from bb, put them into the same box, hooked up to the same amp, and there wasn't a noticeable increase in volume, but there WAS a slight descrease in transient response, but nothing drastic

type-x speakers have better power handling, and are better geared for low-end sound to accompany a full upgraded sound system

the type-r's don't handle quite as much power, but they have better output in the higher frequency range, and are better suited for high-tuned ported enclosures

there's honestly not a HUGE difference in reponse from the two speakers, it mostly depends on the music you listen to, the rest of your system, and what you intend to do with the speakers

to enhance an already upgraded system with true sub-bass, or if you're planning on a sealed box, go with the x

if you're just trying to add bass, trying to compete, or are using a prefab, get the type-r's

correction, crappy cam-corder microphones do that site no justice

in fact, that site does that site no justice, there's really no point

L7's hardly move at all, and are loud as balls, i wouldn't use videos of subs to pick one, only for visual stimulation and some bored-at-work entertainment

i fiqured that but i went to bb and tweet and neither had the r or x. cc did not have it either. I go to my local stereo shops and they never have their crap hooked up. I tell I cant spend my money on anything that i can not hear. One shop tried to sell me on the jbl gti. It costed 500. I asked him could i hear and he said it wasnt hooked up. I just cant shell out $ on something i havent heard.

Go with the Type X 12" and port it according to Alpine specs. It will get loud and will sound very good doing it.

In a sealed box the Type X will not be loud at all, but when you put it in a properly designed (to Alpine spec) ported box it REALLY opens up. BTW the Type X has a huge low end and rolls off pretty early in the upper bass so you should have a strong front stage to handle the upper bass duties. (70Hz and above)

get the type-r's from a chain retailer, and then you can take them back if you don't like them

99% of people would be satisfied with the r's over the x's, if you're after more low-end, then switch to the x's, they have an almost unnatural peak at the extreme low frequencies

if you've never HEARD true lows, you couldn't imagine what i'm trying to describe, so just try the r's, and go from there

yea IMO i dont think that the type X is worth 2x the money for "about" the same sub... true the X has better low freq response and a little better power handling BUT the type R ( in a well built ported enclosure) can perform about as good as an X so save the money and get the Rs and use some of that money you saved to have sombody on the forum build you a NICE ported box for them babies.... and im sure that you will be satisfied:naughty:
