2 Type-R's, 15ft@32hz ........

I went so big on the box because I want it to be LOUD. I have probably built over 25 boxes for R's between my buddys and mine, I started out with the usual stupid 1ft sealed a few years ago and they just keep getting bigger and louder every time. My last box I was trying to get 2.6 each at 37 for 3 subs, again only having two subs at the time, plugging off one hole, resulting in about 3.8 ft each and it was very loud and didnt really sound all that bad believe it or not, besides for farting out on about 10 songs that i ever played, even in which it still played them without damadge, Soul survivor, cross that line by rick ross, and a few lil jon songs. If the subs have lasted through this "big box" abuse for over a year why not keep the box big if its louder and i can accept the minor loss in SQ.

With all due respect, I can tell that you've never designed a box before. Bigger does NOT inherently equal louder. Never has, never will. Your subs are in over 2x the recommended airspace. If you have half that box, they should be louder.

Plus, the box is so large that the box can no longer damp the rear of the cone and you'll get some delicious overexcursion and possibly mechanical failure if you over work them.

yeh dude, i built a huge box before for my Rs, it turned out just like what was said above. My subs started doing some huge excursions, but they weren't loud at all. It turns out i tuned the box soo low or my box was just too huge and it's half the size of your box.........

I know its too big for just 2 subs, but I dont have 2 more right now. I am asking if its going to get alot louder when I add the other two, It better. Im re tuning it to 35 too.

I Cut the ports down from 23" to 12", tuning is around 37-38hz now, I will be putting it back in later today but hopefully its better than the 31hz tuning.
