That amp is a little big for those speakers. Try a 600.1 running at a 1ohm load. Should be enough. Unless you are wanting to get bigger subs in the future then you could go with the 1200.1 and run it at 4ohms.

why is that to big? It shouldnt really hurt the subs if im running the 1200.1 should it...that would be 600 rms x2 @ 2ohms, wouldnt be that bad would it

300 apiece and you are wanting to feed them 600 (actually 700+) and you don't think that would hurt them? I guess you could turn the gain all the way down, no bass boost etc. and see what happens. What's the MAX rating on the subs?

Go with the BX1000. Wire it to one ohm and let them pound. You will probably be overpowering them a little so don't put the boost all the way (if you can don't use it) and don't play gain master with the amp and you would good to go.

do i really wanna run them at 1 ohm? ill end up frying the amp soon wont i? I really wanna keep it at either 2 ohms thast why i was considering the 1200.1 cuz then i can push 600x2

Uhm correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure those subs are 300 RMS per voice coil so 600w RMS per sub.

EDIT: It would appear I'm wrong, according to Alpine's website anyway.

That's what I never get about those subs. Some places say they are 600rms while other say 300rms. I seen them take 600w before but that was in a good enclosure with a clean signal. It really depends on the install.

As for the Brutus, it's made to be run at 1ohm. You won't fry the amp but it is stable at that impedance. If you go less then that then it's a different story. I have the Brutus 1500 and I ran it a 1ohm before it worked flawlessly. IMO, I would take the Brutus over the JBL any day.

Only reason i kinda wanna go with JBL is they have them at the local audio store on sale, so thats why i was thinkin more of that one, so i dont have to pay shipping

Oh, Ok. If it's a good deal then go for it. The JBL is a good amp. Just be careful with your settings since you might be overpowering them a little. Other than that you should be fine.

so the 1200.1 it is then! thanks for your help guys, ill go out and get that, and get pics of my setup. So be ready
make sure ya know what ur doing with this amp.... it puts out alot of power, not something the Type R's are totally capable of handling unless u know how to tune it right, and have them in an aprropiate enclosure.
