2 subs to a mono amp?

How do you go about wiring 2 subs in an enclosure with 2 terminal cups for each sub, to one mono amp? Do you just run speaker wire from the terminal on the amp to one of the terminal cups, and then run a wire from that terminal cup to the empty one? If this makes sense to anyone, please help me. I am a car audio noob. Thanks in advance.

Drill a hole in the divider, wire subs together like "normal" within the enclosure, and only use one of the terminal cups

Looks better that way, in my humble opinion

Is there one set of speaker outputs on the amp or two? Some mono amps have 2 sets of speaker outputs just for your situation. But if it only has one set than you can either link the two terminal cups together and then run one pair of wires to the amp or run one set of wires from each cup to the amp itself. Either way will work out, I suggest method 2.

i'd use the two terminal cups just because it'd be easier to change the wiring configuration if you get a new amp, but that's just my opinion.

you should look up a wiring diagram. what amp/subs do you have?
