2 Space 15's + ??

Hi all,

I picked up two Vibe Space 15's yesterday. The guy had them hooked up to a 500w RMS amp and it pumped out some serious bass! Presumably i'll need a 2 channel amplifier? Does it need to be a class D? Will also need a quick point in the right direction with regards to wiring them.

Thanks!

Yeah that's what i thought. He said he had it wired to 2ohms, so presumably the VCs are 2ohm. Is there a way to find out for sure?

Right... I got the multimeter out... Put one in the positive one in the negative, the multimeter was reading anything from 3.8 to 4.2 ohms... So the VC's are 4ohms presumably. But when i took the enclosure out, i saw a sticker saying the specs... It says dual 2ohm VC's.

So have i got 2ohm VC's then? hence making the total impedance 4ohm?

Please help! :p
Also, i've just come across this amp... JBL GTO7001 Amplifier - Car Audio Direct

Says it will do 425rms @ 4ohms and 700rms at 2ohms. I've just dipped into a link that someone posted on another thread, this one: http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/2DVC_2-ohm_mono.jpg

So if i wired up my subs as per the picture, would my subs BOTH be receiving 700rms?

Thanks!
I really wish more people like you would read and learn before buying your equipments, and I don't mean that in a rude way it's just to save you some cash before you buy something you don't need at all and then learn you've wasted your money. 700@ 2 ohms.. meaning if they were wired up together as 2 ohms... the 700 would split between them.

I'm sorry :/ got some basic knowledge but i'm just fairly new to it all. And to be honest, as long as i buy something good, i'm not wasting my money.

OK so wired as per the picture in the link, they would each receive 350...?

the amp puts out 700 @ 2, which means as long as the amp is seeing a 2 ohm load it will put out 700 rms. the amp doesn't care how many subs are hooked up just as long as it's 2 ohms. so, with that being said, the 700 will be split up evenly between the 2 subwoofers.

the vibes are 500 rms each, and if they are reading to be dual 4 ohm then you should find an amp which will do ~1000 rms @ 1.

MB QUART ONX1.1000D 1000W Mono D Amplifier : ONX11000D : $158.95 : VMInnovations.com

if you use the coupon code "CACO85" you will save 8.5%...

alternatively, if you want to spend a couple extra bucks, you could get this:

MB QUART ONX1.1500D 1500W Mono D Amplifier : ONX11500D : $197.95 : VMInnovations.com

and you would have an extra 500rms

Ahh i see... Cheers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Also, the subs are 1,200rms each i believe? And it says on the box they're dual 2 ohm VC's. I've seen a few good amps about, some that will do 2400rms @ 1 ohm... Would it be okay to wire it as 1ohm? At least i'd be giving both subs all the power they need //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
