Then I did a box in the rear seat that was 10.3 Cubes @ ~36Hz after wood disp but before port/sub. It sounded pretty good except didnt get low for shit (almost like the subs were free airing on the lows).

So I want to try another trunk box

Open to ideas and new designs (4th, 6th order)

36hz before displacement? You need to take subs and port displacement into account, you were probably in the low 40's with your tuning, hence the lack of low-end. Try something like 8ft^3 after all displacements tuned to 33-35hz.
