2 or 4 subs?

I'm new here so don't yell at me if this is in the wrong place. I have two 15" kicker Solo L7's with a 1000x1 JL amp pushing them in my Scion xB. For some reason my glass has not shattered yet so I think I need to upgrade. I'm wondering will the difference be if I doubled what I had now to two more 15" L7's and another 1000x1 JL amp. And when I say difference I mean how much louder would it be? I heard it's 6 db for 2 extra speakers but I'm wondering to the human ear, how much louder would it be? Thanks!

For some reason my glass has not shattered yet so I think I need to upgrade.

Doubling drivers with indentical displacement is theoretically 3dB extra...but it doesn't always work out that way in practice.

How about rather than wondering why your window isnt broke, which takes far more than 2000 watts generally, you examine what type of box you have the L7's in right now? Sometimes its harder to add 2 more subs, especially 15" L7's, than you think. Thats alot larger enclosure. Also how do you expect to power this setup? What do you have for an electrical upgrade right now? What do you have for a front stage?

nope, my car was free, from my grandma, pretty much brand new, her doctor told her she couldn't drive anymore, wasnt exactly what i wanted, but hey it was an almost brand new free car, and it gets me from place to place. im trading it in for a scion xb this summer though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

anyways, i doubt you need 2 more 15's i have 2 12's i cant imagine what 2 15s would sound like in a giant box, just get another amp 500 watts to each is nothing, i have more than that going to my 12s. sound like you have a little to much money on your hands.

I'm guessing I will need a power upgrade for another 1000 watts? RIght now i have a 1000x1 JL and a 800x4 Kicker. The 800x4 is going to the high's. That would be 2800 watts, will that require another battery? Right now i have about a 4' cubic sealed box for the two of them. Don't get me wrong it's freakin loud and it hurts my ears but I was hoping to get into some sort of DB drag racing. Right now I just have the stock battery and a cap. The lights dim as it is. xB's are cool man, you get a lot of blank stares but it's funny. If you are seriously going to get an xB don't buy the aftermarket crap from the dealer buy it all on ebay... You can stick all kinds of metal things and plastic things on the car to make it look cool but you will pay half the price on ebay so when the dealer asks "do you want the chrome door stops" say no! and buy it on ebay.

Oh my god, then you definatley need to just mess around with what you have and you will be satisfied. If you like building boxes build the BIGGEST possible ported box you can possibly fit (about 5 cubes tuned to 32hz), for ONE of the subs, and try that, i guarantee you will sh*t your pants when u hear it.

wow, ok first, before you waste your money on 2 more, put those l7's in a ported box, at least 3.5 ft^3 for each sub. upgrade your electrical system, new alt. yellow top, and big 3, get rid of the cap, and throw it away, its not doing anything anyways, then consider another amp.

you could even do 1 ported with that amp and it'd be louder than it is now.

consider the options with what you have before you waste money on something you dont necessarily need, or will regret buying after you discover what you could have had. im not trying to dis you or anything, if you have then money then go ahead and waste it, im trying to help you out and save you some money at the same time.

Don't know how to build a box! I had all my stuff installed by a local installer. I have heard the bigger box will help maybe i'll give that a try first. Still my origional question remains............. HOw much louder is 4 subs compared to 2 subs? It's 3db but how much louder will it be to my ear???????? THanks

in other words, 4 sealed woofers will be about as loud as 2 ported woofers.

To your ear , Dbs really dont mean as much, loud on a mic is way different than loud to the ear. What the hell kind of place installs 15" L7's in 2 cubes sealed? Anyways sounding louder to your ear is best accomplished by peaking at lower notes. 2 cubes is KILLING your low end. You have no idea what your missing with that box you have now.
