2 ohm DVC question

I just purchased an alpine type r DVC 2ohm sub and am trying to figure out the best way to wire it. I have a 1000 watt kenwood amp. How could i get the most power out of this set up? Thank you for your help!

This is the sub : Alpine - SWR-10D2

This is the amp : Kenwood - KAC-8105D

So why exactly would it be incapable of being wired at 2 ohm? is it because each coil is 2 ohm and would have to be wired together to be amplified? Would it be best if I just returned it and got a 4 Ohm model?

Sorry, I'm new to this and want to learn as much as possible

I hate to be the one....but, no you do not own a 1000 watt amp. You own a 500 watt rms at 2 ohm or a 300 watt rms at 4 ohm amp...and I am skeptical of those ratings as well.

Kenwood - kac-8105d

the sub can be wired to 4 ohm with the voice coils wired in series, OR, 1 ohm with them wired parallel. Your ONLY option with that amp is to wire the sub in 4 ohm fashion for 300w..........

......*****, huh?

Unfortunately you fell victim to subwoofer advertising at its worst. Most sites advertise PEAK wattage. So if you're looking at true specs of the Kenwood, it's 1000W peak and only 500 Wrms. Next time make sure to look at the RMS figure and match it to whatever sub you're intending to buy.

take it all back and come to school to learn what can be had for the same $...far better equipment.

I knew that it was 1000 watt peak. I just didn't know which way I'd be able to get the most out of the amp/sub combo. The amp was actually given to me by a friend. So no money lost there.

Then you're in a better situation than you originally thought. At least you're still looking at 300wrms at 4 ohms which is at the bottom handling range of that sub. Should still be ok. Just not gonna come close to 1000W with that amp.
