2 Ohm amplifier giving up?

Basically in another post I discovered that my amplifier was capable of being wired down to 2 ohms for several months, never having any problems, and one day while driving to school after only a few minutes of driving, it suddenly went into safe mode. Ever since then the amplifier just goes into safe mode whenever any bass starts no matter how loud or quiet. So I wired back to 4 ohms and it works just fine at full volume. What the heck happened internally to make the amplifier do that? In the manual it states that it is a 2 ohm amplifier. I am getting an entire new setup in 2 months, so I don't care if this thing is toast but I would like to at least keep it working as best as possible until then. The amp is a lanzar mxa282. A piece of crap. They seem to have false product details all over the internet about their wattage RMS, but the manual was accurate to that detail, but not so much on the 2 ohm capability? Any ideas?
