considering i got around 2000 watts to play with and since the XXX can take a lot more power than a single IDMAX, what if i had 2 MAXs ??

would you guys take the single '06 XXX or 2 MAXs ?? assuming both in a ported box tuned approperatly

looking for SQL basically. not for comps, just want deep hard hitting bass but would like the potential to get loud

I have actually heard of reliability problems with both of those drivers. The IDMax's from having too much power, and the XXX catching fire/catching boxes on fire. Based on research and what I have heard, you should be careful sending IDMax's exactly 1000 rms each. They are very efficient and do not respond well to too much power, and that is right at their rms.

No the don't respond well to idiots behind a volume/gain knob.

word, idiots who use the gain as a volume knob!

btw: I had 05 xxx and 06 xxx none of them caught on fire //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

well, if u went with a 15" XXX, it might be a tough choice. However, with the same power, 1 sub vs 2 subs, 2 subs wins. Basically all u r doing at this point is doubling displacement.

I would go 2 12" max's be careful with the gains, not saying u will kill them if u arent, but im always stay on the safer side when it comes to subs.

If it was me i would go with the maxes, but that may very well be because i havent heard the X's. Seems to me for a daily driver that the MAXes would suit you better, but maybe you should crunch some numbers on box sizes and consider that, WINISD spits so really big box sizes for the MAXes for flat line response, but i have been told that ISD is flawed. Im an SQ buff more than a SPL guy, because i listen to my system everyday, so my vote goes with the MAXes. Both drivers have good reps. Find what box sizes are feasible for your application and add that to the decision making process.

That sounds good and all, but an 06 XXX has way more displacement potential than one Max.
