mach 5 or memphis pr

a year or so ago, i would've screamed pr. but memphis quality is on the downslide. while i still believe that the pr is the best entry level mainstreme sub on the market, the maw12 is jsut too much woofer. it's like getting an m3 at pr cost.

go maw12, never look at memphis again, lol.

btw, i send off at least 10 woofers a week to memphis for warranty. it's about 50/50 as to the idiots who own them and teh quality of the product. jsut last week, we pulled an 12 m3 outa it's package and it was DOA. teh memphis pr1.500 that was to push it, died at the age of three days.

i cry. i so used to love memphis.

That doesn't sound right to me. I've owned a fair bit of Memphis gear and never had a problem. Is their upper-end stuff still retaining quality (mainly interested in the M-Class lines). I probably won't go to them for subs again, just because they're too expensive for the level of equipment I want. But out of the 6 amps I've owned, 4 were either Memphis M-Class or Studio Line.

id say mach 5 but then again every memphis i heard sounded kinda bad on sq. but one wasnt installed correctly and the other one was in a convertible. anways can somebody mention where to get mach 5's at other then ssa.com? all i seen there was 15's and 18's. but maybe i didnt look in the right place or something.

if you ask some of the older members, they'll tell you i used to scream memphis at every opportunity. the old st1100d is what got me hooked, and a pair of 10" hpos. but here lately, i won't buy anything memphis in an amp, would only buy the pr or mojo subwoofer and the sync speakers. everything else is pretty much becoming a crap shoot.

i still own memphis ( 6.5sqs in my front doors, 4x6 mclass rears, powered by a mch1300, teh big belle.) but i won't buy anything more. and i get it at discount. if i buy from work, i buy kicker. i send off 10-15 memphis items to every 1 kicker. and if i send off kicker, it's 90% user error. memphis? 50/50.

sure, one could get older memphis and have great stuff. but what if it breaks?

I thought the boards on the new M-class amps were the same as the old M-class amps. I know the boards carried over form the Studio Line to the first-gen M-class.

yep...and the new mclass goes to service about 6 times more often. in the case of the amps, i just don't think the heatsink is efficient enough for starters. adn maybe they are using lesser quality parts ont eh inside.

teh new prs are the same way. supposed to be the same internally as last years, yet the new ones are coming outa the box junk. we've sent in every single new pr amp mono block that we've sold for warranty work. every single one. one at three days of use. if someone can explain it to me, i'm all ears. as of right now, memphis is junk IME.

btw, the old st and first gen mclass were outstanding amps. ( i had to reread your post, sorry. tired old man here) when they switched the mclass to the current heatsink, that's when all their troubles began.

if 15s is what yoru after, you can get those for a bit less overall at the ssa shop. price might be higher, but shipping should be less. mach5 is in canada. ssa isn't, lol...
