2 icon 12s. Or 1 zcon 18

Chances are it will be a little louder. Better sub, more power... but the con is a much bigger box. An 18 takes alot of room to breath.

When I was doing my infinite baffle stuff, I went from 2 jbl 15s to 1 18. Same exact power. On paper it was pretty much even. Loss in cone area but gain in excursion. Went ahead and tried it and it was better. I was glad I made the switch, but I had it all on hand so nothing to lose except time.

I feel like the icon shines in a big box too. My brother had a single 12” icon in a 3cubed box on a TREO 2000.1 and it was fvcking nasty!!!

So it sounds like it's not going to be worth the time and effort. Perhaps I just need to get more power from my amp. I'm only getting about 800-900 (clamped)watts to split between the two icons.they ar D1s wired to 1ohm is it normal to lose that much power to impedance rise? This amp should be underrated at 2200watts.. I'd like them to be each getting 1K. Is my box causing me to lose all my power due to poor design equaling a large impedance rise? If so should I recone my icons 2D to so I can run them at a .5 ohm?

LOL..Smokin!! Prob Fry that am pretty quick/blow some caps and mosfets..may damage the subs in the process..be an Expensive move IMO

I wouldn't get so hung up on impedance if you're not competing and don't have the proper tools to measure it.

Seems to me like you're trying to fix a too small box by throwing more cone area into an even smaller box. This won't pan out well.

You will definitely get louder by tuning higher, building a larger box, or doubling power. Unless you have double the volume you're using now for a box I'd avoid 18.
