2 Door Blazer Box question....

Mmmmmmmmmmm.......
I'm sure most of you know that the 2 door blazer has the spare inside the cab.

Sometime in the near future i want to build a box for the cargo area. But here is the catch.....

i want to make the subs fire down so the top of the box is flat so if i need to but some stuff ontop of it, i.e. a suitcase, i can...

my ? is how much room from the floor to the subs should i allow and will this miffle the sound alot?

Yea i do alot of driving so ditching the spare would be a no no //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i didnt ditch the spare //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Mine had the spare carrier on the exterior outside of the hatch //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I threw my spare out for a while. Before I sold it I planned on making a box with downfiring subs and I was going to bolt the spare down to the top of the box.

Yea.....i dont mind where the spare is, i have a 10 and it takes up a decent amount of room, but if i go with a flat "table" like box then i can toss crap on top as needed...

Why are you so set on haveing the sub down firing? I tried down firing once in my blazer and it sucked. Why not have the subs fire to the rear hatch or towards the back of the rear seats, it sounds much better that way. Trust me I've tried it all, I've drivin 2dr blazers since 1996 and have gone through a ton of installs in them??

I would remove the current spare tire and use that metal tubing as an amp rack. Then purchase a small dougnut spare tire that will sit to the right of the box in that 8" wide gap between the right side of the box and the rear right side window. That's what I did in my setup, the small spare tire was removed for this pic....

If you remove the large orginal spare tire you have 36" width to work with between the fender wels. The above box is 36" wide x 26" deep x 14" tall. It's 5 cubes @ 34hz with a 6" wide 20" long straight port.

That is a nice set up, but i am not that Xtreme, pardon the S-Series joke. I just want to free up some room so i can put stuff in the cargo area.....

I like the stealth box for the 4 door, but they have 0 for the 2....

So you want a box for (2) 10" subs or (1) 10" sub?

Here's a down firing box that I made for (2) 12's in my old 95' blazer. it was 14" in total height and the there was a 3" gap between subs and floorboard. You could do the same thing, but just make the box a little smaller like 11" tall which will give you more cargo area.

I made a nice flush cover sheet for mine since I want to show off my HCCA 250R, but you don't have to have the amp on top you can mount the amp on the back of the box like I have shown in the 2nd pic. If you do that you will have a nice flat surface for cargo...

From this angle you can see the actual size of the box below the cover...
