2 channel vs. 4 channel

what would be your main differences between the two. obviously you lose your abaility to isolate one speaker to play with a 2 channel. but i never use my fader or balance anyway. but some songs seem to have music play back and forth from side to side with speakers. would i lose that to with a 2 channel? what im getting at is i need an amp to power 4 speakers in my car.

i have aftermarket deck, speakers, then in the trunk big sub and big amp but now i would like to get a 2nd amp for my speakers.

they are alpine type srs or something like that, single coil 4 ohm

so which amps should i be looking at?

well a 2 channel you would wire both front and back left to one channel and front and back right to the other, so you'd loose the front or back info and it'd all be front just playing from all speakers. where as a 4 channel would have all 4 channels. but idk what speakers you have so you should be looking for a 2 channel at 2 x 100 watts @ 2 ohms ( if you have 4 ohm speakers), or a 4 channel 4 x 50 watts @ 4 ohms( if you have 4 ohm speakers.) Personally i would want to go a 4 channel to not loose any sound that would normally go to the back. or you could just amp your front speakers alone and have a 2 channel at 2 x 50 watts @ 4 ohms( again assuming you have 4 ohm speakers.) As far as brands go i have no experience in that area. Hopefully someone else will chime in and correct me if i'm wrong anywhere and suggest some brands.

My suggestion is to just amp the front speakers, I have no problems with my sub overpowering my components and I have the stock rears faded right out.

What do you have in mind for a budget? Personally I'd look for something around 75w/channel, My type-x's are rated at 75w but I'm powering them with ~140-150/per channel and they take it like champs.

I use 2channels at 2ohm stereo all the time instead of 4channels. BUT it is not good for true sq. The rear will have too much power going to it. Can't go active either

i definately want all four considering its a tiny car (95 camry) lmao and i can hear the back speakers better than i can hear the front anyway from where i sit. as far as budget i was looking to be in around 250 with all wires and harnesses neccisary for the job. i havnt even looked at what ill need to do that yet but it shouldnt be that hard. ive done many installs before. also should i be getting more power than needed so i can not have the amp turned up all the way thus causing distortion and my next build?? lol
