2 and 4 ohm in parallel ??

Ok, I just have a quick question about some type r's for my freind. Well anyway some how he got a 1 single 4 ohm and 1 single 2 ohm woofer. What I was wondering is if I ran these in parallel, what would it come out to? I was thinking was it would be 2.3 ohms but was wanting to check first. Could someone help me?

When you parallel two resistances, it will ALWAYS be less than the lowest resistance. In this case, you would have a 1.33 ohm load:

(1/2 + 1/4)^-1 or (2*4)/(2+4)

However, you do NOT want to do this as one sub will see more power than the other and things will be very unbalanced, not to mention that the parameters for the sub will be different.

ok, guys thanks. He bought these two from a pawn shop in a box and not realizing they where two totaly diff subs. He went to bestbuy and bought a new alpine amp for them and right away was realizing something was wrong. but anyway's i have another question. what is this amp's rms at 4 ohms per channel?? (xm-2002gtr)

Yahesgoing to sell one andbuy another one. Can someone tell me if that sony amp can bebridged at 2 ohms? (xm-2002gtr) also if i just runthem seperatley into there own channel, is it possible for me too blow them??(I have 2 12" sony explod)
