2 amps?

so heres the situation, my buddy bought the CDT CL-62 component set, and the CL-6E mid-range woofer. the RMS on the components is around 160 watts, and the RMS for the woofers is around 80-90 watts. what should we do about powering these? I was thinking amp the components and run the woofers off the HU (Eclipse AVN2454). is that going to sound ok? or anyone have ideas on what to do? btw it's a Scion tC if that matters.

and can anyone recommend some amps? i think he wants to spend $300 MAX.

buy a four channel amp. the h/u wont have enough power to power the woofers.

but yes amp those components up. and where is he going to put the other woofers? rear fill?

yeah the woofers are going in the rear stock locations. since the recommmended power is almost double for the components, wouldn't a 4 channel amp be either under or overpowering one of em?

well what i would do is at most power the rear fill using the HU. i wouldn't power rear fill with an external amp, IMO not worth it. so what he can do is either get a 2 channel amp for the components or if he wants, he can get a 4 channel amp and bi amp the component set.

as for power, don't worry about underpowering or overpowering, as long as you watch the gains, it shouldn't be a problem. im a person that prefers headroom.

I'd amp both. A good 100x4 should work fine.

Just set the gain as normal for the comps and keep the woofer gain low. W/o tweeters I don't think your sound stage will be effected THAT bad especially if you low pass them at 250 or so.

can get the 150x2 one for the fronts and 75x2 for the rears

total cost $170+ship
