Im looking for suggestions on what pair of 8"s or a single 12" would be a solid SQ performer in the 250$ range. Whatever the rms requirements ill buy an amp accordingly.

If I go two 8"s I can port them or a single 12 sealed.

Any suggestions would be great.

the concern with multiple subs is coherent coupling of the wavefronts.

a single sub simplifies everything.

the concern with vented enclosures is coherent coupling of the woofer output and the port output.

a sealed enclosure simplifies everything.

a pair of 8's vented is several orders of magnitude more complicated to sound as good as a single sealed 12.

both can do the job. one is much easier to implement successfully.

Id sit down and figure out exactly what all you will be installing for amperage consumption and add another 10-15% amperage useage on top of that...
