2 18" in an explorer sport

shouldve got Qs....FOR TEH LOWS!!!
i have a feeling 2 18's will get pretty low. unless the Fi guys are liers, "low end monster" under the BL's description leads me to believe itll sound just fine. will probably start on the box next weekend

ok i have pics (have to try and find the usb cord because someone looses it everytime i try to use it)...but anyways

i finished the box...put the subs in, set the gains, and took a listen and........................................................................

THE FUCKING AMP GOES INTO PROTECT!!!!!

the amp is wired to 1 ohm (i know fi says the coils are .7 ohms for the bl's but mine were 1 ohm all the way around). i am set up to max out @ volume 65. i can turn my volume up to about 60 (depending on song, some will only go to 59 or so) and the amp will go into protect, then quickly go normal then back to protect until i turn it down to under 60.

my first instinct was "low voltage". so i used the multimeter but voltage stays up pretty good, and watching my analog gauge sometimes the amp would go into protect after teh voltage drop, and other times it would just go into protect once i went to about 61 or so in the volume, even with no voltage drops.

then i made sure my subs were wired to 1 ohm...and they are. checked ground, rcas, power, remote turn on, and i cannot play the amp any higher without it going into protect. anyone have an idea what the hell is going on?

the only possibility left is that my preamp voltage is too high. i have 8v preouts and the kicker is rated to take 5v in. but at volume 65 i dont think my HU puts out higher than a 5v signal.

so many things have been going wrong on this install. murphys mother****ing law

videos are not even worth while since i cant max it out, but i do have pics and as soon as i get the cable ill post them up.

so is it loud? lol and hows the LOWS
eh, kinda.

the bass just gets louder and louder and then......bump bu....mp bump bum...p....

as of now, i will keep my comments to myself on the subs. but i will say i see potential in them if i can actually give them the power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

btw, found the cord. pics coming up. prepare for some ugly shit!

here are some pics. the will get the compeleted pics in the morning as its late right now, and i was too pissed off most of the day to take pics and videos of the completed box. once i get the amp issue squared away ill post up vids. still leaning to a low voltage issue (even after checking it off)...maybe a bad ground. oh well, got 50% or the weekend left for finding out the prob.

whats the final load going to the amp?
1 ohm is the final load.

i was told by a few people that it can run @ .7 ohm daily. i was actually worried about this and wanted to go higher anyways, but i didnt want to get dual 2's and wire it down to 2 ohms. the only other option i saw fit was the dual 1 ohm config, which fi said sits @ .7 ohms, but i lucked out and they all sit at a true 1 ohm. figuring in rise, i am assumeing i am within the safe operating loads of the amp anyhow.

will be doing a voltage drop too see if im dropping somewhere, and also am planning to pick up some more 1/0 and just ground straight to the battery and guarantee a good ground. seems like its the only thing that makes sense. especially after nixing the preout voltage idea, considering its no likely to max out with music anyways.

whats your electrical like bamaboy? i know you got an HO alt, but thats about all i know about it. just wondering what your running since i know you got 2 zx2500's which are basically the same exact thing as my 05 kx2500.1, and i haven't seen you complain once yet.

and for anyone wondering, yes the box is pretty close to my roof, but for some odd reason i dont think im choking the box off that much. i was really nervous about this, but i think it came out alright, and my priorities have shifted on solving my amp issue.
