2 15" Type-R's or a single 18?

I've got the urge to try some subs i've never used before. I've been thinking to either go a single sub setup, like an 18" XXX or BTL, or possibly 4 12's or 6 10's. Weight isnt a concern or anything, or airspace. But i wanna get a new substage that sounds good, but can also stay perdy loud.

This would be replacing 2 15" type-R's in 8 cubes at 33hz. The amp i will be using is a BXi2607, so my power output is a good 2500RMS @ 1ohm load.

what do you guys think? stick with the 15's or switch it up? give me your opinions! i dont wanna lose any output!

EDIT: say if i can get my R's sold, plus the $$ i have, we're looking at a $600 budget for subs, tops.

the 15 R's are in right now, they've been in for about 3 months, but i had them in an explorer for a few months as well. Kinda wanted to go a new route, but i guess an 18" BTL or similar wont give any impovements eh?

i would get a pair of DD 2515s and keep that amp...

How does 2 15' type R's sound like? I run a single 12' type R and it pounds in a Ford Escape.

2 R 15's should pound if done right. You could always add a couple more and more power

Well as far as 4 12's go the 12's might be louder. But one 18 xxx or btl against the two type R 15's done right. I bet the 15's walk them with same power. Now if you have tons of power then maybe not... If you aren't pretty impressed with that setup then I really have a feeling something is done wrong. (now don't get me wrong we all have different levels of what makes us happy) But that should be LOUD. You could do 4 12 type 4's for 600. Now if you don't like the TYPE r's as an option. Do I think a 18 inch XXX would sound better musically... Probably but I really think you will take a good sized volume hit with same power. And BTL. to my knowledge the Type R's are much more musical than the BTL and will be louder so I would boot that option out
