2 12s vs 1 18

ive got an atomic apxx18 and i have a guy wanting to trade me 2 12 ap/spls. i dont have any personal experience with them so i was wondering how do they do on music? i will be tuning low for daily with a removable port for comps.

my apxx plays 22hz(lowest tone i have) pretty well in a box tuned to 32hz and it still did a 148.6 on music.

can they get the lows being tuned to 30-35hz? also, how would they handle 2krms each?

I would personally keep your 18. You would probably lose some output if you went with the 12's

well you can get monster lows on 2 12's as well. but still be super accurate with the 12's. Thats why I'm trying to go with 12's and not 15's. I just think that being loud doesn't mean you can't be punchy and clean.

Don't get going down that path: cone size has no bearing on how accurate the speaker is.

And keep the 18. You'll have more cone area anyway.

My only problem with the 18 is that it needs a big box and I'd like to have some room back there for the winter for snowboarding.

I know I'll lose some output but can those 12s play loud and low. I've heard some people say they are more of a spl sub geared towards burps, not music.

The ap/spl has a super tight gap and is super stiff. The fs and gap are not good for daily.
