2 12s vs 1 18

An 18 usually has about a little less than 190 square inches of radiating surface area. A 12 usually has around 70 give or take a bit depending on the size of the surround. I think the 18 properly powered would kill the 12s all around.

I know another X vs Y thing, but I cant same to decide. So here is what my plan is. Either 2 12" BLs or 1 18" BTL. Im going to probably buy an Orion 2500d and run 2500 wats to the BTL or 1250 to each BL. I have enough room to build the ideal box for each. What would be the advantages and disadvantages of each? I know the BTL is going to have more cone area, and each set up is just going to be for daily driving, so loudest to the ear.

im almost in the same position as u are, im thinking about two 15" btl or 2 18" btl's. But if i was in your shoes, i would pic the 18 over the 12's

Yea i think I am gonna get the BTL then. It will be much cheaper overall. And will I need any upgraded options on it to have it handle an orion 2500 all day?

18's don't have the sound quality of 12's though.. just giving you a heads up... but the 18 will get with it on them lows.

Yea also, would a basic BTL 18 dual 2 be able to take an orion 2500 all day? or would I need a couple upgrades on it?

I prefer single subwoofer setups myself. It's more a question of what sound you're wanting though.

the 18 given the power needed and enclosure properly biult and tuned would have more output. good luck on your choice and install
