2 12s vs. 1 12

Hey everybody. I've been putting together a summer build for myself, which included 2 SA-12s, possibly with upgraded coils. I'm gonna give the pair 1500-2000w, but I got to thinking, I'd love to go for the 'shock' factor when people hear my system. So, my question is this - how big of a difference will I notice between 2 of these medium-power subs versus 1 high-power 12? The power would be the same, but obviously with 2, I'll have twice the cone area. I was just wondering if there would be a huge difference between 2 SA-12s versus just a single 12 that would take 1500-2000w. Thanks for the input, guys.

I'm fully aware that the cone area is where the huge advantage lies, I was just wondering how much of a difference it would be to the ear vs the meter.

You could do an impressive build with a single 12 that could compare to 2 12s. Depending on which driver you choose, the efficiency of a 4th or 6th order with a single 12 could keep up with 2 12s in a regular ported box. The size of the box will of course be much larger when going with a 4th or 6th, but if you have the space for 2 12s ported, you will have the space for 1 12 in a bandpass.
