2 12" Type Rs Vs. 4 10" power HX2s

Provided there both in optimal boxes... what set would get louder? I'm also throwing about 2500w at each set too.

I doubt there is someone who has had both setups and can tell you from experience that one is definitely louder. But 4 10s has a good bit more cone area than 2 12s, so given the same power in appropriate boxes, the 10s should be louder. The appropriate box thing is the key - port the 10s in about a 6 net cubic foot tuned to around 36 hz with around 130 square inches of slot port. Maybe use aero ports. But the 10s should be louder if all other things are equal.

I hear ya... im sure nobody here has run both setups. I was just looking for an overall idea. The fact that im underpowering the 4 10"s by about 400w a piece... wasnt sure if that was a factor. They are all 1kw a piece. The ZRS10 is only like 2500w @ 1 ohm. What about the low end? Probably wont get too low, huh? I think ill be happier with the 10s overall anyway.

You're gonna need more power than that to properly run 4 power hx'2 IMO... I have 15hx2 of a T10001 (Birtsheet 1546wrms@1ohm) in a 3cubes@33hz box and is too loud.

I have never played with a type and I'm not an expert but my experience with the Power HX2 has been amazing.

Thats what i wasnt hoping to hear. That id be underpowering them. Figured as much though. I really dont want to get another/different amp... was hoping to run them efficiently with 2500w. At least louder than the 2 12"s.

I think that they'll get very loud off the 2500D in a propper box... I would go with the hx2s and upgrade the amp later.

Underpowering the 10s won't be a problem; they'll still get plenty loud I'm sure. And don't worry about the low-end too much, I have a single 10 tuned to 40 hz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif and it can still pick up the lows decently well, so if you tune the box for 4 10s down to 35 hz or so it'll still pound the lows.

I'm pretty sure either subs up port back or subs back port back work best for an SUV, unless you're gonna wall it off, but don't hold me to that.

my brother has 2 hx2s...12s...with 1k watts.each...and they need more...very built subs man..

Hmmmm.... I wasnt looking to wall it off. Ill have to ask a few of the ol' timers around here for some SUV advice.
