2 12" Type-R's vs. 1 12" AQ HDC3

Alright I would like to get your guy's suggestions on my possible setup.

This is what's going on:

2001 Nissan Maxima

Rockford Fosgate T10001bd

Hyperflex 1/0 (On the way)

Mostly rap, but a little of other music mixed in

Want SQL and DEEP bass

3-4' Cubes for box

If I get the 2 Alpine Type-R's, they'll go in a simple ported box, ported around 33-35Hz. If I get the HDC3 (copper coils) it'll probably get spoiled with a loaded horn enclosure designed by Pete K.

Which setup would you guys go with and why?

I'd rather run the R's. The HDC will get loud no doubt, but I think the R's will probably outdo it, to be honest. 1200 ish rms is great for a pair of R's and not really enough for a HDC(unless copper)

My vote is R's, and they'll honeslty probably sound better

I agree that the R's will probably be louder, but I doubt that they sound better. I've had a L7, Type R and HDC3 in my truck and the HDC3 sounded the best by far, with the L7 sounding the worst. The HDC3 was also the 8 layer aluminum flat wound model, which makes this ironic.

interesting question that I have also wondered as far as 2 10" or 2 12" Type R's compared to an hdc315.....both on roughly 2200 watts

i run a single hdc3 15 off a sundown saz-1500d at half an ohm. Its the aluminum coil also. In a chambered t-line tuned to 34hz. now my brother in law has 2 type-r 12's in a chambered t-line tuned to 36hz off a sundown saz-1500d at 1 ohm and my single hd is heaps louder, drops a whole hell of alot lower and sounds a hell of alot better doing it! now we have diff cars, hes got a grand prix gtp and ive got a taurus so its not a fair match but from what everyone has heard between our 2 cars i am killing his 2 r's.

thanks for the offer. but, i've got that side of it covered. i can get the r's for cheap, local. if you had an hdc312, now that would be a different story.

i would've bought the r's a long time ago, but i want something different, something not everyone and their mother has. hence, i considered the AQ
