I have 2 12" Alpine Type-R 4Ohm DVC subs and a Fosgate BD1500.1 amp. I have no problem hooking up the subs into a 4Ohm load, but I can't figure a way in hell of wiring them into a 2 Ohm load. Any help would be appreciated, because considering the relative simplicity of the question, I really feel like a dipsh!t not being able to figure out how to do it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

How would I go about wiring the subs into a 1ohm load? My amp was modified to run at 1Ohm stable because it's former owner used it in SPL competition. The subs might not be able to handle it, but I could always buy two more.

To get a 1 ohm load you just wire all the positive+ inputs together and all the negative- inputs together. The impedance (ohms) of the speaker doesn't change, a 4ohm coil will always be 4 ohms, it's just how you wire them together that determines what ohm-load your amplifier "sees". Your subs have 2 4ohm coils each so when you wire all 4 coils in a "parallel" configuration( all +to+ and all -to-) your amp sees a 1 ohm load.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Because the amp has been modified to exceed the man. specs. In other words it's considered cheating. I have been at an IASCA event were someone had done the same thing. The 2nd place winner protested this and I watched as they tore the winners blazer apart only to find his amps were modified. Needless to say he went home empty handed and with a blazer full of parts to be reinstalled.
