1998 Lumina Help

I just bought a 98 Lumina and it has the 5 1/4" Speakers in the front. I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these cars, and how hard it would be to convert it over to 6.5s. I have a new set of Memphis 6.5s and want to put these in here. Any help would be nice, thanks man.

make your own custom baffles

Would I even need to make baffles? Or do I just need to cut the doors and mount them to the doors? This is where I am getting confused

Need to cut the baffles to the 6.5 size so the speaker fits. It basically is a spacer to where you mount the 6.5's and all the is going into the regular hole is the magnet. You can order them I believe, but suggest you or someone here make them out of 3/4" wood. Is not that hard............well, I could do it, but my buddy made them for me real quick one day. I have 5x7" holes factory in my car and made baffles for a 6.5 set of PG Rsd's. Even made a spot for the tweeter in the baffle.

My wife drives a 1998 Lumina LTZ. Decent cars and strong engine.

oh ok, that's what I was wondering. Seems to be a good car, I got the little V6 model though 3.1 good motor though. I will try it in the next couple days and see what I come up with, worried about the clearance though, as far as the door panel. We'll figure it out thanks bang and boarder.

I hear you on the clearence for the door. They do seem to be very thin, so might want to try 1/4 and see how that works. I did that with an older car and seem to work for me. Let me know how it works out. Thinking about taking over her car as I don't drive that much and getting her something new.
