1996 impala setup ?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was wondering if anyone knows what is the best Box and sub setup for a 1996 chevy impala. These cars hard to get beat out of them. Those anyone have experience or suggestions?

looking Pounding beat so SPL. I have 3 12 l7's with a memphis mojo amp and a memphis 600/4 for my mids and highs. I also already have a port custom cutout in my rear dash. I want it to sound loud and crisp inside the car.

i think four tens would do the trick. i did three in one once and it was way clean and got pretty darn loud. the final result is going to come down to the install anyway.

ok 4 10's but what kind of box setup. From what iv'e heard was that a box ported to that tunnel is the best scenario, with the subs either firing straight at the port or firing towards the front of the car?

Ok well I have had coventional boxes built (ported) with 3 12's and it sounds bad to me. So my last box I had built by a guy out here that said he knows how to get beat out of these cars. The box looked similar to the box setup of the guy who has a thread "oddly shaped box" except there was a port at the top that tunnelled to the port cut out in my rear dash. Now that box funkin HIT! But the only problem was he did not build the box good and it cracked on the corner. So I just had a guy shop take it apart. Oddly to find out the subs were firing towards the floor. So I asked the guy to rebuild my box the same way, but with the subs not firing into the floor. But the new installer told me that most of the box was useless and the only the part with the subs was what he was going to copy. So he built it with the subs firing up towards the port. So now I can see the subs to were before it was like a wall and could not see anything. Well anyways the system does not sound the same and im a lil dissapointed. You would think with logic it would be louder but to me its not. He said it wiill get deeper after he fine tunes it, and after he puts the seats back on.

I went to pick my car up and it still sounded HELLA! weak, so I told dude I'm not paying for that." I asked you to build the same box I had and you didn't" So he said he could add the port to the sealed box. I guess its called a ported bandpass? I dont know I just know what slaps and what doesn't. Well anyway I picked it up and it slaps just like I told him it would with that tunnel. But the only problem I have now is I notice the more I turn up the volume the less deeper the bass gets? Anyone have a idea of what that could be. I have a EQ if that helps.

just out of curiousity, what kind of EQ do you have? maybe the tuning of the box is off.
