I made a new account on photobucket so I can at least upload the new pics while the old ones reset. The only reason I painted the mounts here is because you might be able to see the wood color through the factory covers that go over these, not really sure but I didn't want to come back and have to paint it later, otherwise these will be covered and no one will see them.
I got the two inline fuses mounted. There's no room in here, this is the best place I could find. The other option I had was mounting one of the fuses on the computer bracket but the plastic is thin and brittle. Also I could have mounted both of them to the inner plastic fender that is removed in this pic. I thought this was the best place though as it is most secure on this beam.
So now I bolted the power/ground wires in and yes I did check to make sure the sill cover will fit. Near the where the wires enter the cabin I used some existing screw holes, then on the sill side I drilled some holes .
Also I mounted up the rear speakers, the mounts don't look great but since they will be covered by carpet that doesn't really bother me. I did run into a problem where the top of the mount would have obstructed the rear shade from sliding on it's rails so I had to sand it flush.
Also the crossovers for the rear speakers were mounted with heavy duty velcro inside the speaker enclosure... if you were wondering where they were. I know it doesn't seem like it but it saves a lot of space in this car.
I mounted up the back sides of the front speaker enclosures so I can place the front part in the sill then lay the sill in, mark the front, then glass the two pieces.
Most recently I've been working on the front speaker pods. I was trying to figure out a way to attach the two pieces together accurately. Since they are molds of the sill if it's off by a bit the sill won't fit over it. So with the sill on over the pods I used hot glue and some dowel rods to glue as much of the two halves together as I could. This way the sill could be taken off with the pod attached in the right position. Then I fleeced the sides with hot glue and glassed them. The hot glue/dowel rods can then be removed.
