1994 Corvette First Build

Great build thus far, I certainly don't envy the amount of work you're making for yourself as far as finish work for the enclosure though... lol.

Definitely overbuilt, not bad for your first time, could save yourself time though. Good job.

I covered the power wires entering the firewall with MSD boot guard, the guys over at Scoggin Dickey said it could even be touching my headers and the wire won't get damaged from the heat. Here's a link for 6 feet of it, it's alot more than I needed, they also sell 25 ft. lengths. It fit perfectly over 1/0 gauge Hyperflex wire (with or without tech flex on it).

Rough sand and test fit, I need to add glass in a few more places and mark where I want to remove more glass to form the shape I want. One thing I learned is do not use a sander it will take days, use an angle grinder with 36 grit sanding disc (the one with little flaps of sand paper made into a disc) for rough sanding/shaping.

Starting to make the fiberglass pods for the front speakers. It looks like it would be easier to go this route than make it out of wood and gain some air space this way.

Nice work so far my man. Very nice attention to detail. You could get a much better sound stage by cutting a little metal and building your kick baffles as deep into the kick as you can vs. building from the kicks. As much physical width as possible is a great starting point for a good wide stage. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I thought about doing this and posted that question on the corvetteforum. Apparently those kick panels are structural support for the car and cutting them would be very bad from what those guys said.

Nice build!Clean that poor engine bay man //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

my '66 engine bay isn't even that dirty
After the audio part is done I'll get around to cleaning the engine and finishing up some mechanical stuff. It was sitting in Lubbock Texas for about 6 months outside not even being driven. That city has tons of red dirt and dust, makes your cars look filthy.

Hmm... I went the other way with my vette, I ended up making a MDF box that fit down into the storage wells.

Have you tried to put your door panels back on after that insulation? If not, you might be in for a big surprise.

Yeah they fit fine, just more snug... that RAAMat stuff I used is very thin, just 1 layer and the ensolite is compressible.

Good job, first or tenth time for an install good job no matter the number, I am wondering if you know the total weight of everything you have added ? My guess is that your gonna have a noticeable difference in performance after this install. Good job though keep the good work up.

Also i question the use of tech flex under the hood ? Does it have any protection value to heat at all ? I would think it would kinda dry up and turn to dust after a while. I always use loom and even melt that from time to time. Let us know how the flex holds up to the heat.

I'm glassing both sides of the kick (the cover and metal sill) and joining them together. Don't mind the carpet, it's going to be replaced soon.
