1991 toyota pickup build log

Yes I'm new here so hello to all. I'm just starting to get into car audio so if you see any stupid mistakes please let me know. It's all apart of the learning process. I'm gonna be posting in a step by step manner so it will be easier to help me too.

Current Equipment:

Pioneer touch screen navi (AVIC-F900BT) NOT INSTALLED

Phoenix Gold 1.250R amp INSTALLED

2 10" kicker comp 2 ohm INSTALLED

2 6 1/2 planet audio 2 way speakers INSTALLED

2 4 1/4 Kenwood 2 way speakers INSTALLED

2 offbrand 3 way speakers INSTALLED

Future Upgrades:

Rockford Fosgate Punch P700-1bd

Step 1: New seats

-I realized that with the old school bench seat that it would be even harder to do a good build and get a sub to fit. So I added in 2 bucket seats that were on my old camry which I had sitting in my drive for sale. I wired the power seats and decided after it gave me a good little space between them to build a custom center council.

Step 2: Measure up

I went with to separate wedge boxes what connecting them it just a support to build the center council off of. Being a fist time build for me I wasn't sure which way to start so I just went for it. wedge box one has 1.52 cubic feet inside air space and wedge box two has 1.23 cubic feet inside air space. Yeah i know its not a lot but that is a much as i could possibly make it.

Step 3: The build

I've being doing construction and worked in cabinet shops for 5+ years and even this threw me through a loop. all the angels and going around the strange shape of the back wall. and plus making sure i would have enough mounting clearance for a sub and be able to move the seats back to a good position for driving. The center council was just as difficult as im mounting a pioneer touch screen navi in it.

looks nice so far
Thanks, after seeing all the good fiberglass work in this forum I decided to go with fiberglass. Gonna start this weekend I have a week of of work for thanksgiving so hopefully get a lot of the build aspect done. Still undecided on future set up though.

Well changed my mind again, I'm gonna paint it. Hopefully be able to borrow a paint gun from a friend this thanksgiving and gloss black it and than spray a thick coat of polyurethane over it.

Give me some input

gloss black is going to show every little thing. check out the enclosure build section, and there is a sticky on making a good finish. why did you do 2 different boxes? are you only installing 1 sub? have you checked the port tuning?

I do know what you mean but I sanded, bondo'd, sanded, super light primer, filled remaining holes, sanded, primed bare spots, then sands again. Lol. Ill check that out though thanks for the tip

Yes I check the port tune I can remember what it came out to be I have it written down somewhere ill post it if I can find it.

sounds legit to me!
That is if what's its tuned to is good. When I get off work ill find it and post it

Nice to hear its been done before, did you guys use dampening? And were you guys getting any sound distortion, I'm having a problem with that.

He didnt want to go that far on spending funds for, as he was going to give to his smaller brother. No sound distortion that I could really hear other than panel vibration from the sub woofer.Clean amps/low TDH Zed/Duo-b Alpine.New wires through out with solid 4ga ground/4ga supply to fused distro block
