1989 Box Caprice, 2 Hifonics Goliath 15's....Build

Why do you keep referring to this car as a box? Its a caprice, an old on at that. Not a box, its a car.
The late 70's through late 80's Caprice/Impalas are distinct from any other gen because of their square or "BOX" shapes. They became popular because of thier cheap availability and ease of customization. Huge trunks and large wheel wells for big systems and big rims without cutting or hacking.

Now that the DONK fad has become global these are one of the most sought after cars around. Where as I paid $700 for in '01 for one with 50,000 miles, if you find one with 100,000 on it for less than 2 or 3k, you better buy it.

i'd transfer the video and pics i took but this Gay camera has a gay USB port and i dont have the right cable to upload anything.

i'll get the measurements of the trunk in a minute.

i was sittin here tryin to think of some funny comeback but i really couldnt, just imagine some old lady, white hair and shit, **** i think I still have alcohol in my system from last night
i am not going to deny the fact that this car is only driven by the 55+ age bracket. i am hoping someone from that age group with good insurance destroys it one soon, before it is worth nothing.

i had a 90 Caprice with 4 12's in 8 cubes, no problems, facing back
12s are not as tall as 15s. With 18" from lid to trunk floor, the sound wouldn't have sufficient room to enter the cabin. Typical 12 box is 14-16" tall, typical 15 box is 17-20. Just not enough space unless you slant the face. If the enclosure was narrow, I'd go with that, but 8cubes is not going to be that narrow

The trunk measures 68" wide, 16" tall, the spare is in the trunk it must be nailed down or something. it wont come out.
Thats why I said sub up/port back would be your best bet. Right in the middle of the trunk you have about 18" high right before the wheel hump, but that would make your box too shallow to fit both 15s.

Good looking car, makes me kinda miss mine. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

The spare should have a butterfly looking thing in the middle of it that you turn and unscrew it all the way off. Take the tire out and the hook its attached to. The hook slides right out.

what if i did sub up/port up to beat the living hell out of the trunk lid...so it'll rattle like crazy? or how would it sound? whats the difference where the port is...im new 2 this.

rattle != good, imo.

Your trunk is going to rattle, regardless. You need to get some sound deadening of your choice and maybe some expandable foam (but be careful with that stuff). Do the big 3 and a minimum of 200a alternator first, then get you a yellow top or Kinetik or Deka or something equivalent as 2nd battery. Sub up, port up will be fine. It will all sound the same in the trunk.

Sub/port up wouldn't be as loud. The port would "choke" and probably cancel out. You could try it, but trunk cars get loudest sealed to the front or sub up/port back. Its gonna rattle like hell any way. You can seal it to the front, but it would take a lot of b.s. to get it to work.

Nice car, but don't go and fawk it up!

Do some tint, some decent rims and a nice sound system and call it a day. Don't put 26's on it and lift it like it was supposed to go over some demolition cars. Can't stand those cars!

And who in their right mind thinks rattles=good! That is moronic!
