man with a trunk that size you can put any dam thing you want in there.....and still have room to sneak your friends outta school.....(i did that back in high school with my 81 towncar)

i don't want a cd changer... i want a receiver, like what goes instead of the radio that's on it right now, the little face-plate thing... that plays preferably CDs and MP3 cds, and looks cool at the same time

yeahk i don't worry about the Cd changer, i want to know what speakers fit it and PARTICULARLY what in-dash receiver i can put in it. one that looks cool, does cool stuff, and has a built-in CD player... though built in cd player isn't a necessity, but it should, and it should play MP3 cds too. price isn't a problem, i just want some good sound... i'm sick of that "Cadillac" sound :p

According to Crutchfield's selection list, there is nothing made that is a direct fit. You're gonna have to custom install. Depending on what the stock radio is like, you may be able to use one of the plastic adapters that will center the HU in the dash, or maybe you'll have to fabricate your own brackets. Either way you WILL have to cut the dash panel. If you're not comfortable with doing that, go to a professional.

I had to hack the woodgrain panel on my 85 Olds to fit my receiver. It was worth the effort.

thanks for the help everyone, but i'm still not done asking questions //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ok... uhhh, when you say i may have to custom install, and hack into the dashboard... if i get a professional to do it (now where can i find a professional to install something like that? hacking into the dashboard and instaling it) it will look good in the end, right? also, just because there's no listing in crutchfield doesn't mean there's nothing that will fit it, does it? i'm sure there's cars even nowadays that the receiver takes up the same amount of space!

also, when you buy any "in-dash receiver"... it doesn't just come with the faceplate, it comes with the whole thing that goes behind the faceplate, right? with the wires for the speakers and everything goes to... right?

any other ideas?

Thanks

Unfortunately, no. The hardware that comes with a new HU is a stupid "cage" that kinda wedges itself into the dash openning of most late model cars. It won't fit your Caddy. You be gonna hafta make it fit yourself.

And you gotta be real careful about making the cutout, because the faceplate bezels on todays HU's are only about 1/8" bigger than the deck. They won't cover your mistakes if you make the hole too big.

You get a wiring harness, but you'll also want to buy an adapter harness that plugs into the car's existing connectors. That way you don't have to cut the GM plugs off your car's wires. At least those are available for your year.

My Avitar is a reduced pic of my dashboard with the Pioneer installed. If done with care, it can look perfect (like mine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif )Professional installers do this all the time. They're in the yellow pages.

I sent you a link to my web page that shows my install.
