1973 mustang, subs face the back or front?

Hey everyone, my dad is going to put two ten inch subs in his 1973 ford mustang, in your opinion, should the subs face the front of the car or face the back or face up?(in the trunk) what will produce the best sounding bass?; going to build a box to fit in the trunk, thanks

 
Front. If you fire towards the rear, expect rattling, lots of rattling. The next obvious step for a rear fire setup would be sound deadening, which I would only use lightly on a classic car. Cars back then weren't made to seal as tight as they do these days. Plus, a front-firing setup done correctly (trunk sealed off) tends to have better SQ characteristics, which Im assuming your dad is going for.
