18" mt in civic trunk?

people that think a MT 18 wont sound good in 4.5-5 cubes have never heard one in that space, that will be fine for the MT just tune a little lower. like 30hz

so 4.5-5 cubes it is . i am deciding b/w the 15 and 18". 4.5-5 will work for both the 15 and 18 so i am going to start on a box design. which would be better, port to the back or side?

i got a idea of the box design. let me know what you think. i just figured it up.

it is 4.66 cubes tuned to 36hz with 81 sq in. of port area. sub facing up, port to the side. this is for the 18 and probably the most cubes i can get with that much port area

I have mine running off my orion 2500d at .7 ohm and it is the loudest single sub setup I have ever heard. I think you will be good with it.

As far as loudness, I had 2 RE HC 15's off 2 JBL 1200.1 and switched the sub out for the 18MT, still running off the 2 jbl's, and the HC's were louder. I then switched the amps out for an orion 2500d and now the MT is way louder then the 2 HC's were.

Meade to 2 18's in his Civic (sealed I believe), so it can be done. It won't be the easiest thing in the world though...

I think he had them in ported, he also used the extra volume from the spare tire btw.

im building a box for an 18" mt in the trunk of my 95 civic sedan right now and i got about 6.8 after port displacement. ill let you know how it turns out

You will need to foward fire the sub and port. You also would need to remove the back seat.

No way in hell will a choked off MT18 sound good in a choked off trunk

wish i had enough room to fit a MT i just seen a 18" locally....[ but had the thought that they were meades, so i didnt buy them ]
