wow I have 2 10" type R custom box and my civic trunk is bad enough and thats with extreme mat your bumper is going to fly off and hit the car behind you sounds like a good plan ... hope you got some good highs for when you celing starts to vibrate

an 18 would be sweet for the awe factor, and I agree with phat tony, I'd do sealed, better build the box in the trunk to ensure fitment, or at least do some very careful planning, cause it is going to be a b!tch to fit that in there, if I were in your position though I would do an mt 12, you'll get stupid loud enough with that and have more options for enclosures, also consider beefing up your alternator and maybe add and extra battery (if you haven't already), you're going to need a lot of current for your future install plan(s).

Hmm..I dont have much experience with trunk cars, but I think it could be done. If you can fit 2 H2 15's in there I suppose it could work. There is a video on realmofexcursion of a guy with an 18" MT sealed and it looks loud. Its under the RE section. I dont know I would prolly port it, but def try both and see which is better. Good luck.

Meade to 2 18's in his Civic (sealed I believe), so it can be done. It won't be the easiest thing in the world though...
I was just about to say this.

His doing his system all over since it got stolen.

But man i can imagine that in a Civic.

My 95 Civic Sedan is about to fall apart with Alpine Type R 15.

Good Luck,would be sweet.

i dont see what having good highs has to do with vibrating ceilings.

well right now i have 5 cubes internal volume after port and sub displacement. the h2's displace 0.5 cubes a pice so really i have a 6 cube box. i believe this is as big as i can go as i had a hard time getting this one in. the box i believe is 38w x 23d x 16h. i could definatly probably do b/w 4.5-5 cubes with the 18 but the sub would face upwards towards the trunk lid with the port back. another option i thought about was sub upward and port firing fowards? Also for right now i have 0 gauge wiring and a deep cycle in the back but plan on upgrading the alt. i dunno how that would work out though. my main questions/concerns are:

1. will it be louder than my two h2 15's?

2. will 4.5 5 cubes be enough for an 18" mt?

3. will 2500-3000 watts power a 18" mt? (orion 2500d at 0.4-0.75 ohms, depend on voice coil configuration i get.)

4.will my trunk lid fly off with the sub facing upwards //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

5.has anyone put an 18" mt in a trunk car?

6. What kinda numbers would i putting up?

Thanks for all the help and suggestions/comments

chris

Ive never really dealt with trunks much....but i have my 18" MT in a 5.5 ^ 3 box at 49hz in my yukon and im running it off of my orion 2500d at 1ohm and im putting up 149 on the new TL, so in a small *** civic i have no idea what kind of numbers you would be put up....but my guess is it would be hella loud //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif .
