someone want to help me out here

box can only be a max of 16.5 tall

i was thinking a wedge design over sub up....i was using res caculater and i got it to a 52 degree angle wich should alow me to mount the 18 in a box thats only 16.5 tall

my prblem is i dont know if the magnet will hit the bottom of the box(if it dose then it wont work)

unless thers a way to extend the sub from the box(hmmmm that just poped into my brain as i was typing)

maybe i could stack some more mdf to make the sub extend out further

anyhow anyone think they can sum this up for me i dont have a 18 btl laying around to test at that angle

(current box specs) rough sketch

16.5 height

40 width

18 top depth

29.5 bottem depth

6 inch port width

Why don't you save yourself a lot of effort and space and up-fire the sub?
1 i have never herd this and dont want to gamble

2 only herd 1 persons input clearly said sub up port back no good

3 dont know if its worth

It's typically pretty safe to up-fire the sub and rear-fire the port, or fire both upwards - just make sure to push it towards the rear of the trunk. There are plenty of situations where sub back, port back isn't ideal, either. Worst case scenario, you're out $30 and you can try another configuration.

The problem with a 50 degree angle is that it's going to take up an enormous amount of room and the magnet is more than likely going to hit the bottom of the box, unless the sub is relatively shallow. And it will be much more difficult to cut and build.

Theses are loud cars with trunks

i have no problem with a challange(on the count that i most likely have to build in the trunk anyway)

but if sub up sounds good as sub back then i have no problem with that

(my 2 15 has already beat the crap out of my trunk(had to do so reinforcing )

i had an 18" AA Havoc in my 2001 bonneville box was huge around 6 cubic feet had to build it inside the car to fit every nook and cranny was tuned to 36 hz and it still didn't get loud but whenever i opened the trunk it was loud and trunk cars are just weird you gotta experiment alot with them
