16v setup

first off i would go with a bat that is 16v instead of 2 8v bats. and yes they make 16v alts though i am not sure who makes the. try Mechman, DC power, Power master, or ohio gen.

You would need an alt with a external regulator. Most alt place makes them that have been listed above. EA as well. Also. I secound go with the 16 volt batt. Power master too. They will last longer in the long run then the 8 volts would.

you will have a hard time finding batts other than wet-cell 8v or 6v. Kinetik, XS, Batcap, Turbostart and a few others make 16v batteries. You won't need a charger for the setup unless you don't plan on driving the vehicle often as the 16v alt you want will do the job for daily driving. The same guys make chargers that make batteries if you go that route.

If you run the 8v make sure you get the deep cycle not the starting battery. But if you go that route you'll have just as much in 2 8v as 1 16v in the end. I say powermaster D1000 and an external regulated alt. Or as stated a charger will work as well. Plus you will need it down the road to get the most from your batteries.

X2 I just run one alt.

And a external reg with kinetik 16v.

Many companies make 16v Alts

I can get you one actually.

Coming from an electrical person's standpoint, 2 8V batteries would probably be better for him. Given that he can find some decently sized 8V batts, he'll be better off than buying the 16V batts on the market. Cell volume is directly proportional to power for similar types of batteries, so yeah... It's whatever is available to you. Don't listen to the people saying that a single 16V is better than 2 8V batts. As long as you have a decent connector between them there is no difference, other than a little extra space consumed from the extra plastic.

Find some big 8Vs. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I would go with an agm type battery over wet non sealed flooded batteries. The money you "save" will go to waste by needing more of the wet cells to do the same thing. Not only that wet cells tend to leak and have I even seen a tray of the 8v go up in flames. Agms are better for burst power and last longer and are easier to maintain. I would opt for the kinetik, turbo start or XS over the 8v route.

So many options.

Well, if you must go wet cell I would look into hydrocaps. They're wonderful. They recombine the released hydrogen from the electrolytic reaction back into water back into the cell.

if u do choose to go 8v route, check out interstate 8v batts. ran them for like 3yrs same 1s and they took a beatin and held up like champs. that was wit no alt, i just put em on the charger once a week or day b4 shows
