That is what he bases his boxes on. People buy his boxes for a specific reason. Because they do what they are supposed to.

To be honest, phil makes VERY nice enclosures, but they are very simple in terms of design.

He is basing his comments on what his customers have told him, and on the numbers they put up....which is exactly what they are built for. To say that that "X" enclosure sounds better than "Y" enclosure is FAR to subjective and based on the opinions and biases of the person listening. If there is a more objective way of declaring which enclosure is "better" than the other than an SPL number, i'd like to know about it.

Have loudspeaker physics changed somehow that the physics world is not aware of? I don't see how the complexity of design factors into this at all - unless Mark contends that his and only his design of boxes are the best regardless of the situation.

The thing people forget to factor into here is the car itself. Ask any person into any sort of SPL or SQ competition, the car itself plays a MAJOR factor into how acousitics play out.

HONESTLY, Mark's methods are not much past "very simple".
