Yes spkrman, but lets be practical here. Your boxes and your work is amazing on throwing up numbers, but for this kid's sake, I'm not sure all he wants to do is compete like your personal records' sake. I think he's just throwing a number out there that seems really loud because he just wants.... something really loud. Get a couple L7s, put them in a nice ported box, feed them some good power, and you'll be loud. You may not hit your 150, but you'll be loud enough.

whats dB mean? and whats 150 mean along iwth it. I have a keypad for my amp that says db, but only goes to 15.. I think does that mean decibals?

i'm no spl competitor but i highly doubt 150dB will be easy to acheive while keeping under $1000. i mean the electrical system and wiring could probably take over $500 alone (alt-$200-$300, battery(s)-$100-$300, lots of 1/0 @ over $2 a foot... you get the point) put sound deadener, box materials, all the little miscelaaneous things and you can probably find a cheap deck and you're probably at or near the $100 mark.

edit: i'm 17 (18 in november, yay!) and plan on doing a loud setup in my next car.. which will start sometime in december.i hoping for atleast 142-145 for a DD
