just bought a older 15 inch kicker cvr 8 ohms off a buddy

didnt know it was an 8 ohm sub until i bought it

how would i get this wired to make it as low ohms as possible

and what kind of amp would be good for this sub

its 500 watts rms and 1000 watt peak

Umm you probably have dual 4 voice coils.

Which means you can wire it down to 2 ohm

Its 250 watts RMS

I wouldn't waste my time putting in that sub honestly.

Here is a 15 inch CVR for 115

Get that (probably can get it cheaper on ebay if you want) they come in either d2 or d4 voice coils.

Then you will have 100 something left over for a decent amp that puts out about 500-600 watts

That is plenty you dont really need a 250 dollar amp

I agree.. I have the same sub im pretty sure.. It sounds nice in my room but i tried it out in the trunk once and it was just not right in there..

Im almost positive its a single coil i think you already stated that. You cant wire single coil subs down on ohms unless you run another sub. With another exact sub you can wire it down to 4 ohms. But like stated before its not really worth it..

Yeah dude try and get ur money back if you can. If not just take your loss and do what I suggested you will be much happier at the end
