~1300 watts on small alt

Think I could run around ~1300 watts on D Class amplifiers with a 65 amp alt? It would have the Big 3 done in 1/0, and also the amp would have a run of 1/0 going back to it. The current battery is small, but buying a larger one wouldn't be much of a problem. I just don't know about buying a new HO alt, around how much might it cost to have the stock alt rewound to a higher amperage? Oh yea, sometimes I don't drive the car for more than several days at a time if that makes any difference at all. Thank you.

my buddy runs 1000wrms off his 65amp alt. He has done the big three and still needed a cap for his car.

if you don't want a bigger HO ALT then maybe get another battery for your system?

all in all once you have everything done just bump your car and watch your lights. if they dim then upgrade your Alt, buy another battery or install a good cap.

Yeah if the alt can't keep up to the battery now how is it going to keep up to 2 batteries or a cap added. You will need a alt.

if the stock battery is old and on its last leg replacing it can help.
Yea, I'll probably end up doing that. Do places like Autozone/ Pep Boys carry Yellowtops? That seems to be the battery of choice from what I keep seeing in everybody's signature around here. Or is there a battery similar to the Yellow sold at a place like that? Or am I just stuck with buying one off of the internet?

I'd buy off the internet if it was me, and a yellow top is good but it wouldn't be my choice personally. I have a bit of a boner for odyssey and kinetik

also i'm running my 1200d @ 1ohm on my stock 90amp alt with no major dimming problems (dimmed more at 1.33ohms with my atlases) also no big 3, cause my big 3 would be a huge 3

How hard you push your system will be a huge factor.

Oh! That's good news then. I always thought that it would be drawing out around 1300 constantly even at low volumes. That makes alot of sense now that I think about it.

And thank you for the battery recommendations. I appreciate it alot. I was looking at those Odysseys a bit on the site you posted. They seem to have good prices, but then again I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for. I'll eventually figure all of this out. Thanks again.

Just to give you a good idea. I run a 90amp alt no big 3 and trust me, my alt is FAR from my battery (under the fender in stratuses and alt is opposite side of engine compartment) Battery is stock as far as i know, and i've had the car for like 2 years. I was running the 1200D @ 1.33 ohm pushing two atlas 15s. I hit 143 on the TL and when burping, car idling, no accessories on (except audio of course) i got a voltage drop from 14 (something low, i wanna say 14.3) to 12.7'ish

That was with a sin wave at my peak freq (48hz)

I'm running 1300w rms off of my stock alt. I have done the Big 3, have a yellow top Optima, and a 1 farad cap. I still get some dimming when I crank it up.

My next upgrade will be a new alt...

so if ur lights dim, can that harm ur electrical or wats the big deal besides not getting full power to your amp
dimming lights doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem. It just means that on peak music bursts the current requirement of the amps exceeds the alternators ability to provide it, so for that instant the battery is the voltage source. As long as your car starts every morning and the dimming isn't bad enough to distract other drivers it's not anything to worry about.
