Also 120-135 is a big *** difference. Why did you pick those numbers? You should have asked what a good DD setup would be. Unless of course your heard 120-135 on a mic and deciding you want to listen to it everyday

I've heard both and some in the middle and they all ara in the range that I want

But I heard a 146 and it was to loud for me

Does anyone else want to suggest that he picks up my SI Magnum 15 ?

this sub would deffinetly do the trick, its up there with the xxx's and brahma's for sure. very nice sub.

I can't vouch for any of the other suggestions as I haven't personally heard them but I continually hear good things about them. (rather I've not come across any genuine beefs regarding the RE subs, the IA subs, SI subs, etc)

Alpine Type Rs I've heard and liked. Can get very loud and sound good doing it.

I really, really like my Diamond Audio M6. Stuff it in a good box, feed it 600 watts and you'll like the results, trust me. The newest version, the D6, isn't terribly different so I would recommend it as well.

120 dB at low frequencies wouldn't cause much hearing damage ...

No, but you can guarantee the rest of the frequencies will be at a similar SPL levels. 110dBs is a rock concert. If he's gonna drive around playing with 1000 to 8000 hz at 110 or 120 dBs, his hearing won't last long.
