1200W + 300W amp, what size wire?

Hey everyone, if Im going to run a 1200W Sub amp and a 300W component amp, I was thinking I would run 0 or 2 gauge wire to a cap and then to a distribution block and 4 gauge from there. Is this correct logic or should I be doing something differently? Does anyone know where I can buy these size wires by the foot (the battery is in the back in my bimmer) as well as the installation accesories like ring terminals and distribution blocks?

P.S. Im going to be replacing my battery with an Optima.

run 1/0 gauge to the rear, and distribute it from there.

For the cable go to any local welding supply shop or http://www.weldingsupply.com.

For the terminals, etc. check out prices at local shops or http://www.knukonceptz.com or ebay.

I'd just go 4-8/8, but I'm not all that hard on my amps. 0 or 2 will certainly work and even leave room for future upgrade(s).

guys, you are not thinking ahead.

my oppinino is at least 2 -> 4 - at LEAST. yo can always go smaller, but when it comes to getting larger, its a little bit trickyier.

i say 1\0 from the battery, then whatever you want, 4,2,8 to the amps. but make your mains 1\0 and do your big 3 upgrade, and then if you ever upgrade, thats one less thing you have to waste your money on.

this will also help 'lube' (as some said) the flow of electrons because theres less resistance, and help reduce dimming and strain on the alternator\battery system.

always over-do it. never cheat yourself out just because its $20 more. that $20 extra you spend on somthing can save you from having to buy a new one because the old first time it wasnt good enough.
