12 vs. 15 Type R?

I'm going to take the plunge soon and finally get my system installed. I plan on getting a Type R and it will be fed by a Mcintosh amp pushing 400w. My setup will be geared toward SQ w/ a Denonford HU and Type X comps. I listen to all genres of music. Is there a good reason for me to go with the 15, aside from it being able to "go lower"? Would I have enough power if I ported the box? One more question- if I should go with a 12, would you guys recommend sealing or porting the box? How much of a difference in SQ is there with the Type R between a sealed and ported box. I know these questions have all been asked before, but 400w seems to be an unusual amount of power to work with.

It is, but forum boner says 800+. In a largeish ported box 400 will get it moving enough for daily.

400 will be fine. I am running 350 and it hits pretty hard (albeit my gains are very high). 400 should sound great for some SQ.

After reading the responses on this forum and doing some research I'm thinking I'll go with a TC-1000 by TC sounds. I picked the Type R because it performed well with 400w and the sound quality is supposedly pretty good. There don't seem to be very many subs that are designed with 400w in mind. As for spending the money on the Mc amp; I got it two years ago and still don't have my system installed!
