12 volt vs. 16 volt battery bank

buy 6 6volt batts and wire 3 in series and the other 3 in series then wire them in parallel then get an externally reg to reg Voltage
We are limited to 18v in dB Drag, that would rest over 18v.

It would be much better (reliable, easier) To just use Power Master D1000 16v batteries or something similar. You can charge them at 19v with an external charger and then burp in the lanes from just the batteries.

Then eventually get an alternator that can charge 16v batteries. PowerMaster will be debuting an HHR alternator soon I think.

ohhhhhhhhhhh ok i was under the impression you guys where just doing it for personal pleasure.

isnt their a way to stay under 18V by using diodes and resisitors. thats what i would do and then use my alt to charge to 21-23 V
There is,

its just more difficult than getting 16v batteries and an alternator with adj regulator. You can just turn the dial right to 17.99 or 18.00v.

Your method will work but there is some loss in using resistors, by loss I mean current capability.

Even with 18v, you still need alot of ah to sustain that amplifier at full power for any length of time.

Thanks Ed, I need to get in with powermaster, but not a lot of time or money right now.

but ya I was just wondering if say 2 Powermaster D1000 would keep my voltage high enough with no alt to get through finals?
