Hey,

I'm really new with car audio and am currently learning a lot from this forum. You guys are great //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif . I'm looking for a subwoofer set-up only, complete with box and amp. I'll also be getting it installed at best buy/circuit city/car toys/etc (any reccommendations?). Here's my budget:

sub + box + amp + wires + installation = $700 max

I have came up with many different combos, but have found faults with all of them. I'd like the subwoofer to be 12 inches and the box to be ported (SPL important for now). What do you guys suggest? Wires + installation will cost about $150, so that leaves me with $550 for sub, box, amp. Here are some combos I had:

1) eD 13kv.2 + nine.2 amp + ported box tuned at 38Hz

2) http://www.crutchfield.com/S-05oxNL...510&I=107DB2122 + Hifonics BXi 1206D

I have a RSX Type S (hatchback), but I have limited space as well. What would be some good choices? Thanks!

screw best buy/circuit city! self installation! that would save you some money. unless you don't have a drill. do you care for SQ at all are do you just want a loud woofer?

a/d/s/ 12" sq sub. 600wrms dvc 4 100+shipping

box is wedge shapped, ~40" wide (little bigger from carpet), ~19.5" tall, ~11" deep at base and ~2" deep at peak.

Box is carpeted, terminal plates attached, and fiberglassed cosmetic pannel. It's free if you pay shipping.

I really really want to learn how to install by myself, but my system (a propietary bose system in a 1000-mile car) seems too hard to match up with aftermarket subs. I'm also really busy with school so I won't have time to install myself.

As for SQ, I mostly listen to rap/hiphop with the occassional rock song. I want some clean bass too, but would rather have it hit hard. I was thinking about just going with a visonik setup in a bandpass box, but that would have horrible SQ.

oh, no HU? i think you'll need a LOC

Yup I'm the stock HU and everything. It doesn't even use RCA cables, so I'll need a converter or something too. That's why its kinda complicated //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif .

So I'm thinking Type R ($130) with a suitable amp (what would be good?) in a circuit city box. Would they be able to tune the vented box to sound good with my sub?

DONT GET A SINGLE 12'' TYPE-R //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif
