12" subwoofer recommendations

I'm looking at buying a couple 12"subwoofers to be put in a dual 12" 2 cu ft sealed box (seperate sealed sections per sub) and I would like your recommendations on what I should get. I found these http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12859_Cerwin-Vega+V-Max122.html

I'm not sure how good they are or even if they are worth my time. I don't want to spend over $500.00 if at all possible as I have limited funds available for this kind of stuff.

wow, you can get so many different subs for so much cheaper than that. You need to give us some more information:

power available

what you are looking for (SQ or SPL)

this question so far is like saying, "I have $35,000, what car should I buy?"

give us some more info, and we can help out more. I say if you are going SQ at all, you can get a pair of RE SE 12's on Ebay for less than $300 shipped, and they are nice subs.

good luck!

$500.00 for two and a box. I am running 200 WPC off a 4 channel amp bridged stereo so will need to be no less than 4 ohms impedance. I am looking for good quality sound down to 20 Hz. Also I do occasionally like it loud so I guess I need a sub that does a little bit of both if such a thing exists. I read a review on that Mag V4 subwoofer and it looks like that's what I'm going with. WHat's the frequency response on those subs? I currently have a pair of Pioneer TS-SW3041D 12" subs which work, but the low end is not exactly present like it should be. Once I get the subs installed I will play around with both amp's internal crossovers to achieve the best integration of the subs. I've listened to Tin Pan Alley by Stevie Ray Vaughn on my home stereo with 12" woofers and the drums sound better from those speakers than on the system in my car. Maybe these subs will take care of that. I wouldn't mind having some 12" midbass drivers in my doors to properly fill in the midbass frequencies //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif. I've never been to fond of car audio subwoofers since the drivers are not close to the other speakers as home audio speakers would be, but I am getting used to the sound. I'm sure once I get these subs and adjust everything properly I will get much better sound than what I already have. Also what frequency should I cross these subs over at? Now I'm just waiting on my tax returns to come back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smokin.gif.f1dc8d2acb1809e863ebd6a47eaa0d45.gif. I will update my build thread with the progress on upgrading the subs.

Thanks for the information.

Do u you already have the box? did you say 2ft^3 per sub or total?

I agree on the re se's get the dual 4 ohm ones use on the 2 channels bridged to 4 ohms. do a series parallel configuration to amp to get the 4 ohm bridged load. Use the $200 left over to get a ported box or just port the one you have if it 2.0ft^3 per sub.I say ported because you dont have a lot of power unless you are dead set on sealed. the se's like 15.-2.-ft^3 tuned around 35-33hz.

I don't have the box yet. It will be 1 cu ft per sub. I've never liked ported boxes. I don't necessarily need maximum SPL as I primarily use the subs to simply balance out the low end, although my current subs in two separate 12" 1 cu ft boxes can get louid enough to cause mty ears to hurt if I crank it up too loud for too long. I'm more into SQ than anything else. Basically I have the subwoofer amp set for normal listening, but a simple turn of the bass boost knob to full really causes my subs to hit hard. Nothing like these high powered systems, but is enough for me.
