Lol, I know that, but I'd take the SQ over most of the shallow-mounts out there. The SQ10 is a 10" sub. The OP asked about 12" subs. The cool thing about shallow 12's vs shallow 10's is you need less of them to have more impact. Once you've gotten over the hurdle of mounting depth, added surface area is a bonus. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Haha, true. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gifOf course, the new BM should kick the crap out of that, but since it's not out yet and we have no incling about when it will be, I have a hard time suggesting it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
You need to move away from mainstream. There are several subs out there that will work in that space with that mounting depth.Guys I really appreciate all the help so far. I have been looking into regular subs but the only thing I have found that ALMOST works is the type R from Alpine. The air space requirements is just right but the mounting depth is too deep for the box I have. I am open to suggestions by all means...! I'm thinking about grabbing a pair of the Fosgate shallow P3's to hold me over until those BM's become available for purchasing.
With a box that small, the drivers' low end extension and efficiency will suffer. You might still be happy with it, though.I already have the box that has holes cut for 12"'s. I have to try and get something that will work good with my amp since I dropped $250 on it already. It's a Directed D2400. How important is it to match the subs to the amount of available airspace? If I understand correctly, that amount goes down once you put a sub in the box, right? With 0.78 cu. ft. air space, then sub displacement, I'm looking at roughly 0.5 cu. ft. right? I have found very few that recommend that little air space, unless I am missing something... Again, thanks for the help!
