New Aq2200D not that loud?

Well I got my 2200D today and hooked it up to my 2ohmDVC 12" type r's today wired to a 2ohm final load meaning they would be getting 650rms a piece from the aq. Set the gains with a dimm and -3db 50hz test tone w/ 3/4 head unit. Waited for 51V to show up on the dmm and stopped raising gain.

Listening to songs, there is not that much improvement over the Alpine M850 that I had before....is this normal?

I think my box is the weakpoint...yes I know its "prefab" but its not bestbuy prefab junk:

looking at the specs of the box do you think that is my weakpoint?

oh BTW:

lpf at around 100

subsonic at around 30

Is the box in a truck or a trunk?

If in a trunk are they pointed to

Personally I don't like setting amps with a DMM, but I believe you should have used a 0db test tone.

going from 400w a piece to 650w a piece isn't going to be a huge improvement.

Play with the lpf. I messed around with mine - increased it from 30 to a good bit more - and gained 8 dB. That's right. 8.

yes remote gain at max, 1k a piece is not a good idea...besides they are 2ohm DVC and I have 2o of em....cant wire them to 2ohm..drrrr

If the remote gain is set at max and the clipping indicator led does not light up you need to increase the gain setting on the amp a little. Turn the gain up on the amp until the clipping indicator on the remote comes on when the remote gain is turned about 3/4 of the way up when your HU is about 3/4 volume.

The remote gain functions as an amp gain turndown. It will not allow you to exceed the gain setting on the amp but will let you turn down the gain.
